The Competition Marking
As per normal in these competitions there will be three judges. each judge will mark an image between 2 and 5 as detailed in the below extract from the PAGB briefing note for judges.
2- Definitely OUT. Well below standard. Should be used very sparingly.
3 – OUT Below standard required.
4 – IN General Level of Acceptance.
5 – Definitely IN Possible Award or just very good of its type.
Under normal circumstances a tally of 12, 13, 14 or 15 will result in an acceptance for that photograph in the exhibition. The exhibition chairman will detail a cut off point for acceptances after the marking; this might entail splitting a mark band to reduce or increase the acceptance numbers.
