This month’s display on the club’s screen at the GH Edwards shop in Conwy High Street features a set of images by Maureen James and a display which shows how varied and photogenic North Wales is. You can also view the sequence below.
Maureen is one of the club’s newest members. She joined in autumn 2023 but has always been interested in photography, which explains the high quality of her work. She now wishes she’d joined the club long ago! Her set of images for the screen reflects her interests in travel, portrait, wildlife and creative photography.
This month’s ‘Then and Now’ photos from the club’s archive show changes at Castle Square, Conwy, and the slope on the Great Orme where generations of visitors have spelled out words in rocks. And yes, the words are different now from when Stewart Owen was there with his camera in the 1930s! There’s also a pair of photos of leaping salmon near Betws-y-coed – one taken by Geoff Harris with digital equipment and one by Ronald Thompson c.1962 using film and advanced high-speed flash.
The ‘North Wales Contrasts’ images show our wonderful landscape in different seasons and lighting, along with images of sporting, railway, aviation and livestock action.
