The Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales World Heritage Site
In July 2021, UNESCO awarded World Heritage Site status to the slate landscape of Northwest Wales. Conwy Camera Club members are pleased that our area now has not one but two World Heritage Sites! (Conwy and Caernarfon are part of the Castles and Town Walls of King Edward WHS.) The slate landscape has provided a rich variety of subjects for local residents to photograph ever since the club was founded in 1945, and this gallery shows how it inspires the club’s current membership.
One club member, Sian Davies, gained her ARPS distinction for a panel depicting aspects of old slate quarries, with each image superimposed on a slate slab. You can see some of the images in the gallery.
