This month’s display on the club’s screen at the GH Edwards shop in Conwy High Street features work by Geoff Harris, a sequence illustrating the Four Seasons and the first results from the club’s ‘Summer Along the Coast’ archive project. You can also view the sequence below.
Geoff’s photography started in the 1960s and he bought his first digital camera in 2006, three years after joining Conwy Camera Club. Belonging to the club has introduced him to other photographers and he has learned many new skills, including around processing digital images. His photographic interests are varied, and his main passions are wildlife and landscapes, the latter often in low lighting.
We start the new year with a sequence of images by various club members showing the Four Seasons, staring and ending with winter. As well as depictions of seasonal wildlife and landscapes, there’s a photo from a summer agricultural show and one of a steam train in a blizzard.
Last summer, club members returned to the locations shown in a selection of historic photos from Conwy Archive Service, all depicting aspects of leisure along the coast from Llanfairfechan to Kinmel Bay. This month we present the first two ‘then and now’ pairs: Britain’s Smallest House in 1928 and 2024, and Colwyn Bay prom before and after the Victoria Pier.
