Conwy Camera Club is throwing open its doors to the public on Saturday 6th September with a special display marking the club’s 80th anniversary.
The Open Day will take place from 10am to 4pm at St John’s Methodist Church, Conwy. Admission is free.

The event will present a wide cross-section of work by club members and results from some of the club’s community-based projects. The club, founded before the end of WW2, will also pay tribute to some of its past members with a selection of images from the club’s extensive archive.
Audio-visual sequences in the projection room will include – on the hour, each hour – a presentation of ‘80 Years, 80 Faces’ – results from the club’s project to photograph one local person born in each year since the club’s founding.
At half-past each hour there will be a chance to see photos taken by Conwy Cubs when the club organised a Creative Photography workshop for them in June. This presentation includes a unique audio memoir by Conwy-based composer Hazel Mary, who made sound recordings during the workshop.
Another projected sequence will showcase stunning wildlife photography by numerous club members, while Aneurin Phillips’s breathtaking island landscapes will transport viewers to the Arctic, the Antarctic and contrasting places in between.

The centrepiece of the open day will be a display of new prints which members have created as they prepare for the start of the new season of Tuesday-evening meetings on 9th September.
Cards featuring photos by club members will be on sale, and staff from Cambrian Photography of Colwyn Bay will be on hand to answer visitors’ questions.
