CCC members exhibit images from Romanian exchange

Images by three photographers from Wales and one from Romania have gone on display at Llandudno library.

The exhibition was first shown in the Maramures area of northern Romania. It consists of photos taken by Conwy Camera Club members Tony Davies, Sharon Prenton Jones and Robert Prenton Jones, and by Romanian photographer Mariana Scubli.

All four are members of the Global Photographic Union, and in September 2024 Mariana hosted a week-long visit by the Conwy photographers.

The exhibition at the library contains five images from each of the four photographers, concentrating on the people of Maramures. Robert said: “The social landscape is one of a friendly, humble, spiritual people who exude a natural warmth and compassion.” The photographers all have different styles but were united in their desire to capture the people’s generosity of spirit in the images.

The exhibition was opened by Michael Pearce, the Mayor of Llandudno, who said: “This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity for Llandudno.” He found that the photos reminded him of visits he and his wife had made to Ukraine and Belarus.
