Chris Yates showcase and ‘Dusk to Dawn’

This month’s display on the club’s screen at the GH Edwards shop in Conwy High Street features work by Chris Yates, a sequence of ‘Dusk to Dawn’ images and more results from the club’s ‘Summer Along the Coast’ archive project. You can also view the sequence below.

Chris bought his first digital camera in 2009 and joined a camera club in Kent. He joined Conwy Camera Club in 2023 and was made to feel very welcome by fellow photographers who have challenged his skillset. His images in this month’s display reflect his passion for landscape photography, his creativity and his eye for composition.

The ‘Dusk to Dawn’ sequence presents a wide variety of low-light photos. Some show urban environments or historic structures. Julie Jones depicts the simple pleasure of a walk just before sunset, while Joanne Ward conveys the beautiful colours of dawn in her depiction of a wet beach at sunrise.

This month’s ‘Then and Now’ slot in the display features St Tudno’s Church on the Great Orme c.1903 and in 2025, and Lower Gate Street, Conwy, during and after the removal of the RE Jones printworks. These are two of the pairs of photos from the club’s ‘Summer Along the Coast’ project. The full set of images is touring Conwy county libraries in a flip-through folder for anyone to view: at Llandudno library for 3 seeks from 5 May, then Penrhyn Bay library for 2 weeks from 26 May.
