This month’s display on the club’s screen at the GH Edwards shop in Conwy High Street features pictures of ‘Flora’ and a set of images by Sian Davies.
Sian bought a camera in 2009 and joined Conwy Camera Club, where she received help with camera settings, Photoshop etc. Her interest in photography has taken her to many countries, and she has seen many things she wouldn’t have seen otherwise. She enters her work in exhibitions and has gained distinctions from photographic organisations.
The ‘Flora’ theme covers a wide range of plant photography, including studies of flowers and creative images. The pictures shown on the screen are by many different club members.
This month’s set of ‘Then and Now’ images includes a photo by Harry Rogers Jones of a police officer at Castle Square, Conwy, in the 1930s and a comparison photo of a Police Community Support Officer in high-vis uniform at the same location. Harry also took the photo of the Manx steamer ‘TSS Snaefell’ arriving at Holyhead in 1959, standing in for the usual British Rail ferry. Dennis Oliver recorded the contemporary view, showing the arrival of the ‘Jonathan Swift’ fast ferry.
