In a joint project with Conwy Archive Service, during the 2023 coronation weekend members of Conwy Camera Club documented places in Conwy county which are shown in photos taken during the 1902, 1911, 1937 and 1953 coronations. They also photographed people and places celebrating King Charles III’s coronation.
This gallery shows just some of the project results. The images speak volumes about the change in attitudes to Royal occasions since the previous coronations.
Most of the historic photos are shown here courtesy of Conwy Archive Service.
One of the 1937 coronation photos which was revisited on 6 May (by Henrique Fino) is also available to view, with historical information about the parading soldiers, on the HistoryPoints web page about Berry Street. Conwy. The page can be viewed at any time by scanning the QR codes in the window of the Galleon fish and chip shop.
