John Hearn showcase and ‘Animals’

This month’s display on the club’s screen at the GH Edwards shop in Conwy High Street features work by John Hearn, a sequence of ‘Animals’ images and more results from the club’s ‘Summer Along the Coast’ archive project. You can also view the sequence below.

John joined Conwy Camera Club in 2021 and will try most sorts of photography. Two years ago, another club member introduced him to macro photography of fungi, and he was hooked. His set of images for the screen display includes some of his fungi shots, as well as landscapes and creative monochrome work.

Animals are a popular photographic subject in the club, and this month’s display on the screen shows contrasting approaches, from macro to animals in the landscape. Some images depict animals in action, including a dramatic one by Tanya Liepins of a kingfisher catching a fish. Photos of farm animals include Bob Gresty’s depiction of sheep lined up for judging at a show.

This month’s pairs of ‘Then and Now’ images depict the Deganwy ‘Sand Hills’ – now on the edge of a golf course – and Penrhyn Bay beach during and after the time of quarrying on the Little Orme.
