Seaside Resorts, Then and Now

After the success of our “Coronation Contrasts” last year, the club has teamed up again with Conwy Archive Service for another “Then and Now” project. This time the theme is “Seaside Resorts”.

The aim is for club members to photograph the same locations in summer 2024 so that we can present an interesting set of old and new photos of the same places.

How to take part:

Choose up to two images which you’d like to have a go at ‘re-photographing’.
Use the form (below the gallery) to request your chosen image/s – Rhodri will then send you the full size image/s.
Photograph the same location with as many of the same elements in the image as possible, but without trespassing or putting yourself at any risk, e.g. of slipping on a steep slope. You may want to plan your visit, e.g. around tide times, angle of the sunlight, whether the original scene is crowded or not. For some locations, e.g. caravan/holiday parks, you may need to talk to the site owner and explain what the project is about.
Submit your new image/s to Rhodri (use the image upload facility at the bottom of this page) when you’re happy with the results.

The initial limit of two per club member is so that everyone who wants to take part has a chance to do so. As the summer progresses, we’ll let you know if additional images are available.
