Penny Dewhurst showcase and ‘Reflections’

This month’s display on the club’s screen at the GH Edwards shop in Conwy High Street features work by Penny Dewhurst, a sequence of ‘Reflections’ images and more results from the club’s ‘Summer Along the Coast’ archive project. You can also view the sequence below.

Penny studied photography at school and college before graduating in biochemistry. After a career in science, she returned to painting and photography and gained her LRPS distinction in 2008.

She is best known in Conwy Camera Club for her remarkable photos of dogs. She also takes photographic inspiration from the changing light on the landscape, and explores creative genres.

The set of ‘Reflections’ images draws on the club’s recent competition on this theme. Some members found interesting reflections in the landscape and natural world, some turned to city streets and others created colourful compositions using objects at home.

This month’s ‘Then and Now’ slot in the display features the Morfa area of Conwy before and after the A55 Expressway was built, and paddle steamers leaving Llandudno Pier roughly 100 years apart. These are two of the pairs of photos from the club’s ‘Summer Along the Coast’ project. The full set of images is touring Conwy county libraries in a flip-through folder for anyone to view: at Llanfairfechan library for 2 weeks from 7 April, then Penmaenmawr for 2 weeks from 21 April.
