This month’s display on the club’s screen at the GH Edwards shop in Conwy High Street features work by Trish Styles, a sequence of ‘Minimalism’ images and more results from the club’s ‘Summer Along the Coast’ archive project. You can also view the sequence below.
Trish took up photography only about six years ago, but you wouldn’t guess it when you view her stunning images of wildlife in our February sequence! The Brenig Osprey Project is one of her favourite photographic opportunities. She joined Conwy Camera Club two years ago and found that her images improved as she learned from other members and visiting speakers.
Club members recently took part in a competition on the theme of Minimalism, and we present some of the entries in this month’s sequence. Interesting natural features are isolated from their surroundings in some of the images. Some club members found simple patterns in man-made structures, and others photographed objects on tabletops.
Last summer, club members returned to the locations shown in a selection of historic photos from Conwy Archive Service, all depicting aspects of leisure along the coast from Llanfairfechan to Kinmel Bay. This month we present two more ‘then and now’ pairs: Colwyn Bay’s Victoria Pier in all its pomp in 1903 and the truncated version in 2024; and the Great Orme Tramway at the halfway station c.1910 and last summer.
