This month’s display on the club’s screen at the GH Edwards shop in Conwy High Street featured pictures of ‘Farming Life’ and a set of images by John Clark. You can also view the sequence below.
John, a retired surgeon, started photography in Brownie 127 days and made his first black and white prints in an after-school club. Digital technology opened up a new world of artistic opportunity, as you can see in his set of photos. They include an image of the old chapel behind the Erskine Arms in Conwy as you’ve never seen it before!
‘Farming life’ was the theme of a recent competition in the club, and you can view a selection of the images entered on the shop screen this month (and below).
We also present three pairs of ‘Then & Now’ images from the club’s archive. Two of the old images show ruined buildings, but while the chapel at Cwmorthin has continued to decay the other ruin – the folly at Maenan – was restored about seven years after the original photo was taken by Harry Rogers Jones c.1952.
