Brian Cook

Members of Conwy Camera Club were saddened to learn of the death of Brian Cook, one of the club’s honorary life members.

Brian passed away on 27 July. He had been unwell since an accident in February.

Brian and his wife Elizabeth joined the camera club in 1999, when it was at a low ebb. Their enthusiasm and energy helped to transform the club into the biggest in Wales, with over 100 members, just eight years after they joined. They held various posts on the club committee. Brian was chairman for two years, and at other times he was secretary and treasurer.

The photo shows Brian and Elizabeth at the club’s annual Festival of Photography in 2005. They were central to the festival’s smooth operation each year, from the planning meeting – always held at their house – through to clearing away the exhibition and managing the sales income afterwards.

They also represented the club on the North Wales Photographic Association for many years. They received life membership of Conwy Camera Club in 2010.

They attended their last club meeting in November 2017 prior to moving to Cumbria, where Elizabeth still lives.
