This month’s display on the club’s screen at the GH Edwards shop in Conwy High Street features work by Ian Wright, a sequence of ‘River’ images and more results from the club’s ‘Summer Along the Coast’ archive project. You can also view the sequence below.
Ian joined Conwy Camera Club in 2011 to help get to grips with digital photography. He has learned much from club members, visiting speakers, practical demonstrations and the club’s internal competitions, which have encouraged him to try different topics and genres. He has developed a particular interest in macro photography and the use of creative techniques, both of which are well represented in his choice of images for the screen display.
This month’s themed set of images, by various club members, shows how rivers can be photographed in many different ways, including in urban and rural settings, by day or night. Some of the images depict river wildlife, while others show different leisure activities on or around rivers.
This month’s pairs of ‘Then and Now’ images, in conjunction with Conwy Archive Service, depict the same view towards the beach at Pensarn in the 1900s, 1940s and 2024, and holidaymakers queueing for boat rides at Llandudno beach in 1910 and in 2024, when a jet boat had replaced the sailing boat used in 1910.
