This month’s display on the club’s screen at the GH Edwards shop in Conwy High Street features work by Beryl Gleave, a sequence of ‘Song Title’ images and more results from the club’s ‘Summer Along the Coast’ archive project. You can also view the sequence below.
Beryl joined the camera club in 2013 after gaining an ‘A’ level in photography. She has immensely enjoyed the club’s inspirational speakers, the workshops and social gatherings, and says that club competitions incentive her to take the best images she can. Her set of images for the screen reflects her wide-ranging photographic interests, which include flowers and tabletop compositions.
For a recent club competition, members were asked to provide images which illustrate the title of a song or a book. The screen display presents some of the ‘Song Title’ images. Some photographers carefully set up objects at home to fit their chosen song title. Others looked to the natural or built environment for suitable images, and some matched action photography to song titles.
This month’s pairs of ‘Then and Now’ images, in conjunction with Conwy Archive Service, depict the view towards the Great Orme from the Little circa 1900 and in 2024, and the Rhos-on-Sea Lido circa 1950 with the corresponding view from 2024 – showing a grassed area with trees where the pool used to be.
