This month’s display on the club’s screen at the GH Edwards shop in Conwy High Street features work by Laura Fretwell and a set of images depicting People. You can also view the sequence below.
Laura, a landscape architect, joined Conwy Camera Club in September 2022. Her images in the October display reflect her long-established interest in landscapes and nature, as well as her more recent work in macro photography – and a spooky montage which for Hallowe’en! Being a member of the club has allowed her to develop her skills through attending workshops, taking part in competitions and learning from other members.
Some of the subjects in the People images are hard at work, including a sheep shearer, and many are at play, while the set also presents contrasting approaches to portraiture.
This month’s ‘Then and Now’ archive images include a photo of farmland near Glan Conwy, an evening photo of the Conwy suspension bridge, both from the 1950s, and the view from Bryn Euryn when the A55 Expressway was being built in the 1980s.
