As part of its 80th anniversary celebrations, Conwy Camera Club held a family day at the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay. More than 60 club members and relatives enjoyed viewing the animals and the social occasion.

The event was instigated by Martin Neale, who stepped down last month as organiser of the club’s extensive programme of photography workshops and outings.
Conwy Camera Club chair Bob Gresty said: “I would like to thank Martin and the zoo staff for the detailed planning and hospitality which made the anniversary event an enjoyable and rewarding experience.”

The club has organised a variety of events and displays to celebrate 80 years since it was founded, as the North Wales Camera Club, shortly before the end of the Second World War.
The club’s on-going summer exhibition of prints in Conwy Culture Centre features 18 images by current members and six by key members of the club in past decades.
Another 80th-anniversary event this month was a creative photography workshop for Conwy Cubs, where budding young photographers focused on polarised light shining through transparent plastic objects and on oil droplets on water.
Club members are preparing for an 80th-anniversary open day on Saturday 6 September which will feature new prints, projected images and photos from the club’s archive.
