Conwy Camera Club members have created a display at St Mary’s Church, Conwy, to celebrate the launch of Llwybr Celynnin, a pilgrimage trail connecting five historic churches. The photos will be on show until late September.
The 22-mile pilgrimage route in the Bro Celynnin Ministry Area has been set up as interest in walking spiritual paths continues to grow. Llwybr Celynnin is a figure-of-eight trail that follows existing footpaths between Conwy and Llanbedr-y-cennin, passing through Rowen in both directions. Walkers can collect a stamp at each church in a specially designed pilgrim passport, creating a record of their journey.
The club’s photo display shows all five churches and details inside or outside, including the holy well at the Old Llangelynnin Church and ancient paintings of saints in St Benedict’s Church, Gyffin. There are also photos of some of the wonderful scenery pilgrims will find along the trail.
The photos represent all four seasons and show how the atmosphere of the churchyards and landscapes varies with different weather and lighting.
