Robert Prenton Jones has won Conwy Camera Club’s annual creative photography competition with his skilfully crafted image ‘Welcome to the Dark Side’.
The competition was established in memory of Lionel Bloodworth, who died in 2013 after transmitting his enthusiasm for creative photography to fellow club members by initiating the Creative Special Interest Group.
This week, club members voted for their favourite three images of the 35 entered. Rob’s image ‘Welcome to the Dark Side’ won the most votes. The image is Rob’s homage to Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’.
“Karl had already been a Stormtrooper model at a Conwy CC workshop evening, and he agreed to spend a day in our home studio recreating the same poses as depicted in Leonardo’s painting,” said Rob after his win. “The Dark Lord was a model of Darth Vadar that Karl owned. In a nod to the cinematic origins of Star Wars, the food on the table comprises snacks that can be purchased in a movie theatre! If was a fun day shooting the initial images and then many hours of post-production fitting them all together: a bit like a complicated jigsaw.”
