Ladybird photo is Chair’s favourite of 2025/26

At Conwy Camera Club’s end-of-season awards presentation, Ian Wright’s photo ‘Taking Off’ was revealed as the Chair’s favourite image of the season. Club Chair Bob Gresty said he was amazed when the image first appeared on the projector screen, during a competition on the theme of ‘Red’.

Bob’s runner-up choice was the one that made him laugh the most: ‘Step Aside, Casanova’ by Gaynor Sinnott.

Overall winners (across the projected and print competitions) were Andy Bell (General section), Trish Styles (Intermediate) and Dan Richards (Advanced).

Certificates were also given to club members whose images had been chosen at least twice by the ‘secret judge’. This season, for the first time, one anonymous member was selected to choose their favourite image in the General, Intermediate and Advanced sections in each competition. They passed the titles to the competition secretary, who read out the winners after the visiting judge had finished giving a critique and score for each image. A different secret judge was appointed for each competition.

Andy Bell came first, with four images chosen by secret judges during the season. Second was Pam Gresty, with three. Five others each had two images chosen.

During the summer break, club members will take part in various activities. The club’s new season of weekly evening meeting resumes on 3 September.
